JANUARY CULMINATING PROGRAM

January 10, 2020 Friday – FOOD CONSERVATION MONTH CELEBRATION

            The day started with the morning preliminaries and dance routine.

This day we celebrated the “Food Conservation Month.” Everybody brought different kinds of recycled or preserved food as we share our practices in conserving food. Everyone enjoyed their shared food as well as the cooking lessons presented by the hosts/coordinators of the month who were Teacher Evony Badiola, Teacher Eden Miranda and Teacher Augusto Abarquez.

January 17, 2020 Friday, Friday – NATIONAL ZERO WASTE MONTH AND NATIONAL CANCER AWARENESS MONTH CELEBRATION

              It was a fair weather that Friday morning. We started our activity with the usual Friday routine of prayer, flag ceremony and dances exercises that warms up every sleepy body.

              Afterwards, Teacher Evon gave a short talk about school-based waste management. She discussed different ways of garbage disposal and recycling methods.

              After the very informative talk of Teacher Evon followed the important talk of Nurse Michelle San Pedro about Cancer awareness and prevention. A very informative discussion of different ways a person can acquire cancer.

January 24, 2020, Friday – KICK-OFF OF AUTISM MONTH CELEBRATION

                 Autism month is one of the most anticipated celebration in Pasay SPED Center. This time is the chance of our selected students under the Autism Spectrum to showcase their talents. Shortly after the morning routine. Sir Benjie Peralta updated us about the current information and issues of Autism.  A very informative discussion that many parents were very attentive that day listening to sir Benjie.

                 The whole week was full of different activities for our children with Autism. Such as drawing and coloring contest and the much-awaited Quiz Bee.

January 31, 2020 – Friday – CULMINATING ACTIVITY “SHOWCASE OF TALENTS OF CHILDREN WITH AUTISM.”

                 It is the most awaited day of the month. The singing and dancing contest of children with Autism. It was a fun-filled day for all expectators and audience to see our children under the spectrum to show their skills in dancing and singing.  Contestants came from different levels. From Early Intervention upto Sheltered Shop students displayed their talents.

DECEMBER CULMINATING PROGRAM

 

The Pasay City Special Education Center, through the initiative of its faculty officers, kicked-off celebrating the yuletide season on the first Friday on the month of December, 2019. Each Friday, is dubbed as the socialization, music, arts and P.E. day of the week, saw the pupils today in their color-coded t-shirts, beginning the day with the customary & timeless dance-exercise routine. 

          An hour or so later, they took a short break as the officers prepared for the talk of Mr. Ruben C. Peralta, Jr. He shared his expertise in the field of special education as the country observed in December the Persons’ with Disabilities Day in the Philippines. Pointing out the different levels of disabilities and how parents can plan for their children’s future, parents listened attentively as they related to the talk. The right approach and strategies were likewise given emphases to parents of exceptional children, encouraging them to be abreast with the latest trends and government programs to address their needs once they reach the age beyond what the curriculum requires and offers.

          After the talk, everyone went to their classrooms for their art activity. As stated in the matrix of activities of the month, they made Christmas cards for their respective parents. The day ended after they finished in decorating their classrooms with Christmas decors.

          December 12 was a happy day for the exceptional pupils of the Pasay City SPED Center. The spirit of giving was evident in the school as the GPTA conducted its annual gift-giving to all learners of the center. This time they partnered with GBU Ventures and the Office of the Vice Mayor. Together, they distributed food packages, school supplies, snacks and taho drinks. Students were much delighted as they received their respective Christmas presents. In return, the school principal, Mrs. Lea M. Marcelo, thanked the sponsors and the GPTA.

          The last day of school, before everyone bade goodbye to the year 2019, December 13, was also the culmination activity for the month. Each level prepared and presented a Christmas dance number for the program. Wearing their Christmas-themed costumes, the learners gave their best performance. But the highlight of the show was the dance and song number of the faculty. The teachers were grouped into three, and each presented a different dance. At the end of the presentation, they sang a Christmas song.

          For the last part of the culminating activity, the faculty, in its 4th year of sharing their blessings, they conducted an outreach program for selected indigent learners of the Center. Apart from gifts, they also gave free lunches for the beneficiaries.

          After the program, the pupils and teachers went to their respective classrooms for their class Christmas party. Their tables were filled with different kinds of food and gifts. There were parlor games, singing, and dancing as each level celebrated the birth of our Saviour. 

          The last day of school for 2019 ended with a fun-filled faculty Christmas party at Islas Pinas. They partook of Filipino dishes in a festive atmosphere in a restaurant known for its well-stocked buffet.

In preparation for November we celebrated the following activities, Book / reading Month for the whole November, National Children’s Month and because of this, Resorts World Manila in cooperation with League of Volunteer Employees and Maxicare, they celebrated a funday with our Level I and Level II children with special needs.  We added the Filipino Values Month, Global Warming Climate Change Awareness, Field Trip in Subic Pampanga was also inculcated in our November activities and we do the culminating activity in the form of dances with the theme, Children Songs and Nursery Rhymes in closing November activities. 

Aside from book or reading month November is also Filipino Values Month, wherein Filipino culture and traditions are being given emphasis most especially in the part of the young one’s where RESPECT is highlighted. Rolando Roa give small talk on the above mention celebration.  The saying of “po” and “opo”, the bless “mano po” system to the parents and older members of the family by the young one’s which is now being forgotten by some.  Because nowadays new generation adopt the culture of the westernized people, these culture and tradition have slowly diminished as time passes by.  Since it is really the responsibility of the parents, guardian, and older people, they are the one’s given  reminder to continue to instill and to  practice it to the young generation of today because after all it is a very good tradition that is really for keeps which mirrors the entire Filipino nation.

As part of our activity, we have given our children with special needs the art materials for them to color the different Filipino Values that we should be continue doing everyday as part of our daily lives.

 

For National Children’s Month, slide show was given to parents, guardians and children with special needs.  Information for some and reminder for everyone that children too has his or her own rights, as a Filipino people.  That going to school even if they are children with special needs is not the parents option but it is a right of a child to do so or have.   That children like them have the right to play and go out and again it is not the parents option for them to keep their children to stay at home the rest of their life just because they have disability.  Other rights of children are being reminded during this session. 

            As part of our activity in celebrating Children’s Month, we do the palarong pinoy for our children with special needs.

OCTOBER CULMINATING PROGRAM

Last October 2, Teachers attended the Division wide Teacher’s Day Celebration where we had a chance to watch some of the performers in Pasay showcasing their different talents,  give away cash and raffle prices as to acknowledge the professionalism, dedication and expertise of those responsible for educating every learners.  

       This mid– year’s  inset allows us to be more equipped , empowered and looking forward to apply all the knowledge that speakers imparted with us.  We are blessed having the following resource speakers in the house as they generously share their exemplary wisdom and expertise concerning some timely issues addressing cyber safety , Open Educational Resources (OER) , Mental Health Awareness , Inclusive Education, Violence Against Women and Children’s Act,( VAWC) Headed by Sir Rolando Roa, Nurse Michelle Yutero, Dr. Mateo, Marieta Garino, Mr. Junio, Math EPS,  Ma’am Lilibeth Gaban, and Dr. Nora S. Pablo.

On the 31st  of October, there was a parade as the first part of the program showing spooky and scary costume that represents different countries to make Halloween and United Nation can be in one celebration. We can show the world the universe rather that in every situation even in the darkest we can be united with one big heart.

 

       We also acknowledge the participation of Jose Rizal Elementary School for their willingness and joyfully exchanging candies for the Sped’s trick or treat!

SEPTEMBER CULMINATING PROGRAM

        First and second week focused on literacy week.

         On the 6th and 13th of September, it began with the energizing Friday routine followed by a story telling. Simultaneously, a chosen story was assigned to be shown/tell in each respective room. This was conducted by assigned teacher per level. Pupils were able to enjoy the stories!

After listening for quite some time, the learners with their parents and teachers were more than ready to do the art activity “Reading Materials” made out of recycled materials such as wrappers, bottle caps etc. This activity was a success because of enough time and assistance given from the parents/ guardians of our dear pupils.  They had a lot of fun. On the 26th of September, here comes the last Friday activity the “Family Fun Day”. It was called a big event because for the first time in history of Pasay City Special Education Center, the event was able to be held at Cuneta Astrodome. It was participated by the Sped group as well as the fast learner group. Each level have as representative for the presentation. The program was started with the mass officiated by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Reynaldo B. Bungay. After the mass, the pupils as well as the parents were able to showcase their talent in singing and in dancing.

       The event was also a big success thanks to all volunteers and organizations who sponsored mineral water and foods such as taho, biscuits, and lugaw as token for the families who attended the event.

Pasay City Sped Center July Culminating Program

 

On the 6th of July, P. Villanueva Elementary School together with Pasay City Special Education Center open the Nutrition month with a bang. There was a kick-off parade headed by the award-winning Drum and Lyre of the school with the learners who joyfully walked around the vicinity as ambassadors of a healthy lifestyle. After the remarkable kick-off parade, they had their much awaited Friday routine. The learners and the teachers were energized enough to listen to Nurse Michelle Yutero who gave an informative talk about healthy habits. It was a timely discussion because it was very vital to the learners when it comes to being healthy. They learned a lot as they listened and asked questions which were all answered.

Furthermore, they began with their art activity. Pupils with their parents and teachers worked hand-in-hand in creating a work of art. Some had amazing masks with leaves and flowers as designs while others created colorful fruit baskets. As always, they all enjoyed the art activity because they can express their feelings and emotions upon doing their art works. 

 On the 12th of July, the learners with their parents and teachers had their exercise through the Friday routine which they enjoy always. Right after, Teacher Esther Antholo share her talent and expertise on how to prepare and cook delicious & healthy vegetable lumpia.  Then, they had a planting activity. Each of them planted a vegetable that they need to take care of every day. The laughter was heard everywhere as they enjoy the vegetable planting activity from preparing the soil in a pot to planting the seeds and watering the plants. It was a superb planting activity. 

On the 26th of July, each level showed their interest-based performances.  Some of them acted out scenarios while other danced gracefully. They had fun performing. They truly were one of a kind learners. They were looking forward to perform and show off their talents and develop their personal and interpersonal skills.

 

June Activities "Huling Hirit sa Tag-init"

    Come rain or shine, the teachers’, parents’  and pupils’ determination to attend the first Friday of the school year prevails. On the 8th of June, Pasay City Special Education Center had their Friday Dance Routine. The location didn’t bother them that much when you look at their smiles and energy in dancing.

 ART ATTACK

Then, they went back to the school to start their much awaited art activity. They began with the flag making following the assigned art style for each levels. Right after that, they began making the father’s day card, photo frame, and/or scrapbook.  

On the 21st day of June, they began with the Friday routine dance exercise to make their bodies groove. This classic routine was followed by informative discussions on kidney diseases by Nurse Michelle Yutero and on Safety Tips for Kids by Sir Ruben S. Peralta Jr. and Sir Augusto Abarquez Jr. with the help of Transition Vocational students. The discussions brought learnings on how to take care and prevent kidney diseases as well as understanding of safety signs to prevent accidents.  

     On the 28th of June 2018, Pasay City Special Education Center held their culminating activity with the theme “Fairy.” The students gave their breathtaking dance performances with their amazing costumes.
