On the 16th of December, the twinklers and star scouts had their amazing playday and festivity at the school ground. The girl scouts enjoyed all the fun-learning activities with amazing prizes. They were guided by their “titas.” They learned the importance of teamwork, kindness, responsibility, and sportsmanship. It was fun-learning worth remembering and sharing. They were ready to get more badges. Also, they were opt for another adventure experience in Girl Scout of the Philippines.
On the 15th of December, the much awaited Boy Scout Investiture was held at the school covered court. The long hours of practice paid off. Looking forward for boys who will be and/or continuously be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
An Exciting GSP Juniors Overnight Camp
From the 8th until the 9th of December, the GSP Juniors held their overnight camp at the school. They were led by their “Titas.” They were very eager to learn more about the organization and how to become the best Junior girl scout.. They were lucky to hear a meaningful talk from Tita Lea M. Marcelo as well. They earned knowledge about the importance of teamwork, friendship, and some survival tips. One of the most enjoyable activity they experienced was the campfire. They were ready to get more badges.
Each day was a blast. Eager volunteers start the registration each day. The kick-off parade happened after the registration on the first day. Inspirational messages were heard coming from volunteers and sponsors during the opening remarks. The school made sure that the Wellness exercise each day will boost the adrenaline and morale of the volunteers. The restoration process was amazing. There was a preliminary cleaning of the surroundings, classrooms, walls, grills, corridors, comfort rooms, and canteen. This was followed by the cleaning of the school’s computer room, as were the fixing of tables and chairs, repainting of tables and cabinets, and rewiring the electrical wires in the canteen. The grills of the school, computer lab walls, and the canteen were repainted. The two septic tanks of the school were siphoned, too. The 2nd and 3rd floor hallways of PVES and the 2nd floor ceiling of the SPED bldg. were painted. They also installed LED lights in the hallway, fixed doorknobs, and donated painting materials, and electrical bulbs and sockets. New plants were planted. They fixed the ceilings and doorknobs of the 3rd floor comfort room. The school’s clinic was painted together with the grills and walls on the 3rd floor. The cleaning of electric fans, ceiling fans, windows, and walls that needed attention continued. The Home Economics room was repainted too. The stairways of the SPED bldg. were painted. The old paint along the JRES side of the SPED bldg. was scrubbed in preparation for the SM Cares volunteers painting activity. SM volunteers painted the Trinidad bldg, a mural on a section of the SPED bldg, chairs and benches of grades 1-6 of PVES and the guidance office. The cleaning of the walls, tables, benches, chairs, grills, bookshelves in the library were pitched-in. The windows and grills of the guidance office, Office of the Principal, and guard post were painted as well. The 2nd floor hallway of the SPED bldg., the grills, walls, and gate of P. Villanueva Elementary School were cleaned and painted as well. Lastly, the production of safety signage was completed and posted along strategic sections of the school. All these were witnessed by Mrs. Jessy J. Reyes, monitoring officer from the Division Office, Dr. Rosalie Condes, the monitoring team from the NCR Office, and the PSDS.
Alongside with it, the school made sure that we raise awareness regarding HIV-Aids, Anti-Illegal Drug Campaign, and an Earthquake Drill through seminars attended by volunteers. It is noteworthy to state that the painting and cleaning materials used were from concerned private individuals. There were donations too such as 600 bottled water and cash donations intended for needed materials. The School Prinicipal, Brigada coordinators, and concerned Brgy. officials held a meeting to track the activities of the Brigada. A closing program was held in the afternoon, giving credit where credit was due, and challenging all to keep up the principles raised during the Brigada.
Pasay City SPED Center‘s celebration of National Nutrition Month was capped with a special program participated by students from all levels from Kinder Headstart to Sheltered Workshop held at PVES grounds last July 29, 2016. This year’s theme is “First 1,000 Days ni Baby, Pahalagahan Para sa Malusog na Kinabukasan.”
Through jingles, songs, dances and even a skit performed by the students, the culminating activity has created awareness among students and parents on the importance of proper infant and young child feeding practices. It has also encouraged everyone to live a healthy lifestyle by eating the right kind of food and exercise.
The Pasay City SPED Center community attended a thanksgiving mass as we welcome SY 2016-2017 held at San Rafael Parish Church last July 22, 2016. Rev. Fr.Reynaldo B. Bungay, who officiated the mass highlighted the importance of being a good student and cited ways on how to be one just like Jesus.
After the mass, the students and parents prepared healthy snacks namely: Fruit Kebabs made from bite-sized chunky fruits in season like banana, watermelon, apple and orange; meaty Ham Salad and Cheesy Egg- Pine Sandwich. The school encourages everyone to choose and prepare healthy snacks that are enticing to the eyes and palates at the same time. This activity made us realize that there are endless combinations and ways in preparing hearty snacks for our children and it is up to us adults to make the change for a better lifestyle.

Every Friday, Pasay City SPED Center conducts activities for the learners to further enhance, enrich, and develop their skills for holistic development.
Last July 15, the learners, teachers and parents, started the day with an energetic exercise. This was followed by an art activity. Crafting of vegetables and fruits were done by the entire student with the assistance of parents and teachers. Painting, paper cutting and classifying foods with verbal explanation from the learners were among the activities done. These were executed in relation to the celebration of Nutrition Month which lasted for an hour.
For continuous improvement of the school, General Assembly was conducted last July 2, 2016 who participated in by parents, teachers and school staffs. Since it is the first general assembly, Mrs. Marieta E. Garino, Master Teacher, presented the school faculty, staff and GPTA officers to let the new members of the PTA know each other.
To refresh and remind the parents on their duties, obligations and responsibilities in the education of their respective kids and the whole school community, Mrs. Melisa G. Delmo, the new President of faculty presented the school policies. Mrs. Josephine Sumulong, the current GPTA President, reported the GPTA financial report.
July is Nutrition month with its theme “First 1,000 Days ni Baby Pahalagahan Para sa Malusog na Kinabukasan”. To increase awareness on the celebration, a parade was held and participated by the pupils, teachers, parents and barangay officials. Mrs. Esther S. Antolo, Feeding Program Coordinator, gave a message where she emphasizes to create awareness on the importance of proper infant and young child feeding practices, specifically the exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life and giving appropriate complementary food after six months and continue breastfeeding.
The opening message was followed by dance exercises by the kids, teachers and parents. To let the children understand better, art activities was given like My Plate wherein they cut food pictures from old magazine based on the my plate template. Food Pyramid also was one of the activities wherein they sort the cut out pictures into the food groups. Rainbow Food activity aims the primary level kids to classify the pictures according to its color. This activity was a collaborative work of parent and child.
In celebration of the 2016 National Reading Month and in support of the Ten Point Education Agenda of the Aquino administration to promote the “Every Child a Reader Program (ECARP) the P. Villanueva Elementary School launched the Reading Month. The event highlights the long month celebration aimed of promoting the love for reading that’s why Matrix for month is prepared.
Starting November 7 our school implemented the Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) wherein the morning session will have their DEAR at 10:00—10:15 AM and the afternoon session will have their DEAR at 2:00 –2:15 PM supervised by their subject teacher the pupils we’re given 15 minutes to read book taken from their mini library or the book they brought to school. Last November 6,2016 is our Kick—off rally was participated by pupils in all levels. There was a parade of story book characters, and presentation from selected pupils, the pupils enjoyed reading story books and listening to storytelling shared by the teachers and selected pupils. Activities for the month are as follows: Kick Off, Spelling bee, storey telling, Book fair, red my hat, slogan making and play

Mr. Benjie Peralta Jr. heads the team Batang Emergency Response Team (BERT) heads to Red Cross for a three-day training. Student representatives from Grade 6 underwent training on bandaging, CPR and first-aid response activities.
