The love, support, and dedication of everyone in the school was manifested on Brigada Eskwela 2018. Amazing people made this six (6)-day event successful including Brgy.80-81 and 86-91: Brgy. Captain and Kagawad, PNP Pasay headed by SPO2 Leo Aguila, GPTA/ Parents (PVES and SPED), alumni and current students of the school, teaching and non-teaching staff (PVES and SPED), SPG officers and volunteers, volunteers/Sponsors, SM Cares volunteers, McDonald’s Philippines, The Knights of Columbus, Manila Tytana students and alumni.

Each day was a blast. Eager volunteers start the registration each day. The kick-off parade happened after the registration on the first day. Inspirational messages were heard coming from volunteers and sponsors during the opening remarks. The school made sure that the Wellness exercise each day will boost the adrenalin and morale of the volunteers. The restoration process was amazing.

There was a preliminary cleaning of the surroundings, classrooms, walls, grills, corridors, comfort rooms, and canteen. This was followed by the cleaning of the school’s computer room, as were the fixing of tables and chairs, repainting of tables and cabinets, and rewiring the electrical wires in the canteen. The grills of the school, computer lab walls, and the canteen were repainted.

The two septic tanks of the school were siphoned, too. The 2nd and 3rd floor hallways of PVES and the 2nd floor ceiling of the SPED bldg. were painted. They also installed LED lights in the hallway, fixed doorknobs, and donated painting materials, and electrical bulbs and sockets. New plants were planted. They fixed the ceilings and doorknobs of the 3rd floor comfort room. The school’s clinic was painted together with the grills and walls on the 3rd floor. The cleaning of electric fans, ceiling fans, windows, and walls that needed attention continued. The Home Economics room was repainted too. The stairways of the SPED bldg. were painted.

The old paint along the JRES side of the SPED bldg. was scrubbed in preparation for the SM Cares volunteers painting activity. SM volunteers painted the Trinidad bldg, a mural on a section of the SPED bldg, chairs and benches of grades 1-6 of PVES and the guidance office. The cleaning of the walls, tables, benches, chairs, grills, bookshelves in the library were pitched-in. The windows and grills of the guidance office, Office of the Principal, and guard post were painted as well.

The 2nd floor hallway of the SPED bldg., the grills, walls, and gate of P. Villanueva Elementary School were cleaned and painted as well. Lastly, the production of safety signage was completed and posted along strategic sections of the school. All these were witnessed by Mrs. Jessy J. Reyes, monitoring officer from the Division Office, Dr. Rosalie Condes, the monitoring team from the NCR Office, and the PSDS.

Alongside with it, the school made sure that we raise awareness regarding HIV-Aids, Anti-Illegal Drug Campaign, and an Earthquake Drill through seminars attended by volunteers. It is noteworthy to state that the painting and cleaning materials used were from concerned private individuals.

There were donations too such as 600 bottled water and cash donations intended for needed materials. The School Prinicipal, Brigada coordinators, and concerned Brgy. officials held a meeting to track the activities of the Brigada. A closing program was held in the afternoon, giving credit where credit was due, and challenging all to keep up the principles raised during the Brigada.
